Libya, Arab League hold talks to boost coordination and consultation

Libya’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Taher Al-Baour, discussed with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy ways to strengthen coordination and consultation between Libya and the General Secretariat of the Arab League, in support of Arab causes and greater Arab solidarity.

The meeting, held Sunday at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo, addressed a number of issues of mutual concern, foremost among them developments in the Palestinian cause and the latest developments across the Arab region, according to Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Al-Baour congratulated the Arab League Secretary-General on assuming his post and wished him success in carrying out his duties. He reaffirmed Libya’s support for the Arab League and its commitment to strengthening the organization’s role in advancing Arab causes and developing mechanisms for joint Arab action.

Fahmy, for his part, welcomed Al-Baour and his upcoming participation in the Arab League Council meeting at the ministerial level, stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation among Arab states and strengthening joint Arab action amid the developments and challenges facing the region.

Al-Baour is visiting Cairo to participate in the 166th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, scheduled to be held on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the League’s General Secretariat headquarters.
