The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced the commencement of pilot operations for the gas utilization project at the KK station—operated by Mellitah Oil & Gas—aiming to recover the full volume of associated gas from the station’s wells, estimated at approximately 15 million cubic feet per day.
The NOC explained that the gas will be transported via a 40-kilometer pipeline to the Abu Attifel field for processing at the natural gas liquefaction plant. It will then be pumped toward the Zueitina hub and connected to the coastal network, thereby supporting the national grid and meeting local energy market demands.
The NOC emphasized that the project represents a significant step toward boosting production and reducing emissions, aligning with its strategy to achieve “zero gas flaring” by 2030.
