Dbeibah discusses political and economic developments with US Senior Policy Adviser

Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibah discussed on Sunday with the Senior Policy Adviser for Libya at the US Department of State, Jeremy Berndt, the latest political and economic developments in Libya, along with a number of issues of mutual interest.

The meeting addressed the electoral process and efforts to create the conditions necessary for holding elections, including the outcomes of the “4+4” mini dialogue group concerning the legal framework for the electoral process, the reconstitution of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), and the role of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

The two sides also discussed the unified development spending agreement and ways to ensure compliance with its provisions in a manner that enhances transparency, fiscal discipline, and the equitable distribution of resources. 

They also reviewed the situation in the oil sector and support for the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to maintain stable production and improve the efficiency of the sector’s management.

Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination on issues of mutual concern and supporting efforts to enhance stability and advance Libya’s electoral process.
