Hadramout – The killing of seven members of Yemen’s Nation Shield Forces in the Ramah district of Hadramout Governorate has sparked widespread grief and concern, with growing calls for a comprehensive investigation into the attack, accountability for those responsible, and clarification over why other security forces did not intervene during the incident.

According to circulating reports, the incident followed a security operation carried out by the Nation Shield Forces to pursue a suspected smuggler affiliated with the Nihm tribe. The operation ended with the suspect being killed during the confrontation. However, the situation later escalated when the security unit was reportedly ambushed in what has been described as a treacherous armed attack, resulting in the deaths of seven personnel while carrying out their official duties.

According to the widely circulated account, the Emergency Forces in Hadramout—whose personnel are predominantly recruited from northern Yemeni regions, many of which are currently under Houthi control—declined to intervene, reportedly describing the incident as a case of “tribal revenge.” This position has drawn significant criticism from observers, who argue that an attack on state security personnel performing official duties should not be treated as a tribal dispute but rather as an assault on state institutions and the rule of law.
