Senegal officially closes its fresh mango export campaign

Senegal’s Directorate of Plant Protection (DPV), under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, has announced the official closure of the 2026 fresh mango export campaign, effective Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

The decision, communicated in a circular letter signed by DPV director Dr. Kemo Badji, follows monitoring, inspection, and phytosanitary certification activities carried out across the country’s main production zones throughout the season. According to the directorate, the closure takes into account the evolving pressure from regulated fruit fly species, including Bactrocera dorsalis and Ceratitis cosyra, as well as the advanced maturity of orchards and the need to safeguard the phytosanitary compliance of Senegalese exports to international markets.

As a result of the closure, no new phytosanitary certificates will be issued for fresh mango exports destined for EU markets after the official end date, except where an express derogation is granted by the DPV for duly justified special cases.
