Houthi attacks on Yemen’s Al-Mokha kill one, injure eight civilians
One port security officer was killed and eight civilians were injured in a series of Houthi attacks targeting Yemen’s southwestern port city of Al-Mokha, according to state-run media.
The attacks targeted Al-Mokha Port and the district center in Taiz province, which lies along the Red Sea, Anadolu Agency reported.
Two sailors were also reported missing following the attacks.
Sadık Duveyd, spokesperson for the Yemeni government-affiliated National Resistance Forces, said the Houthis carried out the attacks over several days using 40 ballistic missiles, 46 drones and bomb-laden boats.
According to Duveyd, the attacks targeted the port as well as facilities providing essential services to civilians.
Al-Mokha is an important Red Sea port and is controlled by forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have repeatedly targeted the port and surrounding areas in recent days.
Last week, the group launched several ballistic missile and drone attacks against Al-Mokha Port and the district center, with state media reporting multiple deaths and injuries.
The latest attacks add to the continuing violence in Yemen, where the Houthis and forces aligned with the government remain locked in a prolonged conflict.
