Morocco’s AKDITAL receives Saudi authorization to open its first hospital in Riyadh

Moroccan private healthcare group AKDITAL announced in a press release on September 7 that it has received authorization from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health to officially open its first hospital in the Kingdom, marking the group’s first hospital operation outside Morocco.

Located in Riyadh’s Al Olaya district, AKDITAL Hospitals Al Olaya is now fully operational and has begun receiving patients. The facility covers more than 17,600 square meters, has 140 beds and brings together more than 50 specialized healthcare units.

The hospital includes a medical imaging and diagnostic center, 11 operating theaters and procedure rooms, more than 30 critical care beds and an 18-bed emergency department. Its specialties include cardiology, oncology and hematology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, dialysis and diabetology. Women’s healthcare services include a maternity ward, delivery rooms, fertility treatment and in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The Riyadh opening launches AKDITAL’s planned expansion in Saudi Arabia, where the group intends to invest 5.3 billion Saudi riyals, approximately 13.2 billion dirhams, by 2030 to develop its hospital network. The company said its objective is to establish a long-term presence in the Saudi healthcare system while transferring expertise developed in Morocco and adapting it to the country’s medical and regulatory environment.

The expansion comes as Saudi Arabia seeks to increase healthcare capacity and attract new investment and operators under its Vision 2030 strategy.

Riyadh becomes AKDITAL’s first international location after the group developed a network of 45 healthcare facilities across 25 Moroccan cities. AKDITAL, which describes itself as the leading private healthcare group in the MENA region, is also the first healthcare group listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange. Its international operations are being developed under the «AKDITAL Hospitals» brand.
