Oil Minister discusses development and production plans with ConocoPhillips

The Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq, met with senior officials from US energy company ConocoPhillips to discuss investment plans, the development of the Waha concessions, and efforts to increase production.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of Abdul-Sadiq’s participation in the ONS 2026 Conference and Exhibition in Norway.

According to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Abdul-Sadiq met with Kirk Johnson, ConocoPhillips’ Executive Vice President for Global Operations and Technical Functions, and Steinar Vaage, the company’s President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The discussions focused on ConocoPhillips’ investment plans for the coming period, programs to develop the Waha concessions and increase production, and follow-up on the agreement signed in 2026, which extended the concessions until 2050.

The meeting also addressed the use of modern technologies in oil sector operations and the development of national expertise to improve operational efficiency and support production growth.

Abdul-Sadiq emphasized the need to accelerate investment and development projects and address any challenges that could hinder their implementation, supporting production targets and strengthening the long-term partnership with ConocoPhillips.

The meeting was attended by Zueitina Oil Company Chairman Faisal Miloud and Libya’s Ambassador to Denmark and Norway, Salem Emdiqaish.
