Casablanca – Morocco’s U17 women’s national team added another medal to the country’s tally at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, securing bronze after defeating Slovenia 3-1 in the third-place playoff on Monday.

The Atlas Lionesses sealed third place at the Franco Fanuzzi Stadium in Brindisi after producing a convincing display against their Slovenian counterparts.

Nesma Mradi opened the scoring for Morocco in the 15th minute before Anissa Hamdani doubled the advantage in the 69th minute.

Leila Boushaba then added a third nine minutes later to put the result beyond doubt.

Slovenia managed to pull one goal back, but Morocco held on to claim a 3-1 victory and secure the bronze medal.

The achievement marks Morocco’s second football bronze medal at the Taranto Games in the space of two days.

The U20 men’s national team also finished third after defeating hosts Italy 4-1 in their bronze-medal match on Sunday.

The two football podium finishes have contributed to Morocco’s growing medal haul at the Games.

The country currently sits eighth in the overall standings with seven gold medals, five silver medals and 10 bronze medals, giving it a total of 22 medals.
