Morocco U20 Fall to Tunisia at Taranto 2026

Casablanca – Morocco’s U20 national team suffered a narrow defeat to Tunisia in their second Group A match at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, today.

The 1-0 loss leaves Morocco with one point from their opening two matches, adding pressure on their final group-stage fixture.

Tunisia broke the deadlock shortly after halftime when Mohamed Ryan Rahimi found the net in the 49th minute. 

The goal proved decisive as Tunisia held onto their advantage until the final whistle.

Morocco had opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Turkey, leaving them on one point ahead of their final group match.

Tunisia moved onto four points following the victory and currently sit at the top of Group A. 

The North Africans had previously drawn 0-0 with North Macedonia in their opening game.

The group remains open heading into the final round, with Turkey and North Macedonia also entering their meeting on one point each.

Morocco will face North Macedonia on Wednesday, August 26, in a crucial encounter that could determine whether they remain in contention for a place in the semifinals.

The top two teams in Group A will advance to the last four, meaning Morocco will need a positive result in their final game while keeping an eye on the outcome of the other group fixture.

Tunisia will close out their group campaign against Turkey on the same day, with the final standings determining the two semifinalists.
