Moroccan Duo Named in CAF’s Best XI for WAFCON 2026

Rabat – Morocco internationals Nahila Benzina and Hanan Ait El Haj have been named in the CAF Technical Study Group’s Best XI for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The two defenders were recognized after delivering consistent performances throughout the tournament, which was hosted by Morocco.

The Best XI was selected in a 4-3-3 formation and features 11 players from five different countries. CAF’s technical group highlighted the players’ consistency, influence, and contribution to their national teams during the competition.

Benzina and Ait El Haj were included in the four-player defensive line. They were joined by Ines Belmou of Algeria and Mariam Ngadjio of Cameroon.

Cameroon goalkeeper Michale Bihina was selected between the posts.

The midfield featured Algeria’s Marine Davor, Cameroon’s Monique Ngock, and Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga.

The attacking trio consisted of Malawi’s Tabitha Chawinga, Zambia’s Barbra Banda, and Cameroon’s Marie Ngah Manga.

The recognition adds another individual achievement for Morocco’s players following the country’s campaign at WAFCON 2026 and highlights the strong performances of the Atlas Lionesses on home soil.
