Moore, Taylor lead qualifiers for 200m final at national championships

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Women’s defending champion Ashanti Moore and last year’s men’s runner-up Christopher Taylor lead the qualifiers for the 200m final at the JAAA national championships, after impressive performances in Saturday’s semi-finals.

Moore, who was a finalist in the women’s 100m on Friday, ran 22.88 seconds (-1.2m/s) to win her semi-final heat and was followed by Alana Reid- 23.74 (-4.0m/s) and Jodean Williams, who ran a season’s best 23.05 seconds (-1.2m/s). Niesha Burgher also advanced with 23.82 seconds (-4.0m/s), along with Lavanya Williams who clocked a personal best 23.06 seconds (-1.2m/s).

Taylor ran a season’s best 20.49 seconds (-2.9m/s), beating former 400 hurdles champion Roshawn Clark, who was second in 20.63 seconds.

Jevaughn Powell, who led after the first round, also advanced with 20.73 seconds (-4.5m/), along with Adrian Kerr- 20.76 seconds (-4.5m/s) and Kadrian Goldson – 21.00 seconds (-4.0m/s).
