Mellitah nearly triples output from Abu Attifel well
Abu Attifel well adds 798 barrels a day after overhaul

Mellitah Oil & Gas Company has added 798 barrels a day of crude production from a well at the Abu Attifel field after completing maintenance work, Libya’s National Oil Corporation said.

Output from the A-24 well climbed to 1,201 barrels a day from 403 barrels, an increase of about 198%, according to an NOC statement issued on Thursday.

Gas production from the well also rose sharply, reaching 6.42 million standard cubic feet a day from 3.20 million before the intervention.

Mellitah’s technical teams replaced completion equipment and reperforated the producing formations as part of a programme to improve the performance of existing wells.

Tests conducted at the same 64/64-inch choke setting showed that flows remained stable at the higher rate, while water accounted for 7% of the well’s output. The NOC said monitoring would continue during the stabilisation period to ensure production remained steady.

The corporation’s board praised the Libyan engineers and technicians involved in the work and said similar evaluation and maintenance programmes would continue as part of efforts to raise oil and gas production.
