The Ministry of Health has denied reports that vaccine storage facilities are facing a threat to the safety of vaccines, following social media claims that around 2,000 doses were at risk of being discarded due to power outages and fuel shortages.
The ministry said it sent a team from its Inspection and Follow-up Department to inspect the vaccine storage facilities. The team found that the facilities were operating normally on backup generators despite the power outage, ensuring that the cold chain was maintained and vaccines were stored at the required temperatures.
The ministry also said the inspection found no official reports or notifications from vaccination officials indicating a shortage of fuel needed to operate the generators or any malfunction affecting their operation.
