On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as part of initiatives to modernize national infrastructure and accelerate the energy transition in Haiti, Engineer Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, received a delegation of regional executives and technical experts from the international firm Huawei.

Representatives of the technology giant Huawei presented the recent advancements and overall vision of their Huawei Digital Power division. Their presentations highlighted the company’s leading role in the development of green technologies, the path to carbon neutrality, and the deployment of smart photovoltaic solutions coupled with battery storage systems (Grid-Forming ESS/Microgrids).

The delegation also shared key data on the global and regional impact of its so-called “4T” technologies : Bit, Watt, Heat, Battery, illustrating the effectiveness of these clean energy infrastructures in powering both urban and industrial networks, as well as rural and isolated areas.

Discussions between Minister Pierre Louis and Huawei representatives focused on partnership opportunities. These discussions highlighted the potential of smart solar microgrids to strengthen the resilience of the national electricity grid, as well as the benefits of adopting advanced energy management platforms (DigiPower Management) to optimize consumption and reduce carbon footprint.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Pierre Louis commended Huawei for its innovations and commitment to international development. He reaffirmed the commitment of his Ministry and the Government to promoting sustainable technologies adapted to local realities to address the country’s energy challenges.

This meeting lays the groundwork for more in-depth discussions aimed at formalizing pilot projects for a greener and more technologically connected future for Haiti.
