Luanda, 18 August, 2026 / 9:08 pm (ACI Africa).
Archbishop Germano Penemote, a member of the Clergy of Angola’s Ondjiva Diocese and serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan, has called on Angolans to take responsibility for improving society, urging action to strengthen the justice system, organize the economy, and improve road infrastructure to enhance living conditions.
Archbishop Penemote made the appeal on Sunday, August 16, while presiding over the closing Mass of the annual pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Assumption-Eko, attended by thousands of Marian devotees.
“First of all, we need to put our house and our homeland in order,” the Angolan Catholic Archbishop said, identifying the organization of society, the economy and the justice system as urgent priorities.
He insisted that improving Angola must begin with addressing challenges that directly affect citizens, including road quality and the conditions in which families live.
“Let us fulfil our duties with love and responsibility so that we can improve living conditions,” he said.
