Ahmed Shobeir attacks Gehad Grisha and criticises and praises Amrouche!

Media personality Ahmed Shobier has taken aim at Moroccan coach Hossein Ammouta over his team selection for Al Ahly’s clash with El Sharkia Enppi, played yesterday in the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Al Ahly clawed back a two-goal deficit to win 3-2, with El Sharkia Enppi also missing a penalty, as the Reds claimed their first three points amid a clear dip in form.

“Ammouta’s mistakes in the line-up”

Shobier said in radio comments on Monday: “There were some mistakes by Al Ahly in the El Sharkia Enppi match. From my point of view, Karim Fouad shouldn’t play left-back unless it’s absolutely necessary, meaning if Karim El Debes isn’t available or Koka has played in that position more than once, then leave it to the expert. But in the end it’s the coach’s point of view.”

“Yasser Ibrahim shouldn’t be sitting on the bench,” he continued. “As long as he’s fit, you as a coach must play him, especially since you refused to let him leave, but Ammouta says that the players who took part in the World Cup are a little exhausted. Imam Ashour was injured and then trained well and wanted to be included in the squad, so he could have a role. Al Ahly have a day off today and still have 3 training sessions before the next match, so Imam could be in the squad even if he’ll be among the substitutes.”

The pundit went on: “What matters in the end is that Al Ahly won 3 very precious points, because last season they started with a draw against Modern Sport, and Al Ahly lost the league last season by just 3 points, and only 3 points, and therefore it’s a very precious win.”

He added: “Al Ahly fans were in a state of shock after El Sharkia Enppi went two goals to nil ahead, in addition to missing a penalty as well. Here the mettle of experienced players like Marwan Attia shows, who scored an unstoppable rocket of a goal. In the second half, Ben Sharki succeeded in winning a 100% correct penalty, so Zizo, who had a good match, equalised.”

Praise for Ammouta’s changes

The former Al Ahly goalkeeper said: “I really liked Ammouta in his changes. He brought on Soufiane Bendjedida, Ali Mahmoud and Karim El Debes, and the match came together to a very, very great degree, and the result was that Al Ahly succeeded in scoring the second goal. Then in the 85th minute he brought on Afsha instead of Zizo and Hussein El Shahat instead of Ben Sharki, who took man of the match. He had a very, very brilliant match, but from my point of view Marwan Attia is the man of the match.”

“Every change Ammouta makes has a role in the shape of the play,” he added. “With the first 3 changes the team drew level, then the second changes brought the win, and a salute to Afsha, who was subjected to a strong campaign of attack, and the fans need to be patient with their players.”

Shobier criticises Gehad Grisha

Shobier said: “I’m the person who most respects opinions. I defend with all my might your right to give your opinion even if it differs from mine, but what really upsets me is that your opinion is tied to your position. Let’s be clearer. We talk about refereeing in Egypt. As soon as someone takes charge of the committee, they immediately tell you the referee is right and doesn’t make mistakes, and they go out in interviews and say this publicly, but while you’re in the committee you defend, and when you leave the committee, the same incidents you were talking about while in the committee, your opinion becomes the opposite!”

“For example, we’re talking about Al Ahly’s penalty yesterday against El Sharkia Enppi,” he explained. “Captain Gehad Grisha, and I respect him greatly, but suddenly he went and made a video saying the penalty wasn’t correct. Fine, it’s your opinion and I swear to God I respect it, but I could bring you many cases similar to this one, and Captain Gehad completely agreed with the referee’s decision!”

He continued: “Stick to your opinion, Captain Gehad, or anyone else. People, the law has nothing to do with whether you’re in the committee or not in the committee, it has nothing to do with it at all. The law is the law. Zamalek and the registration ban
