UNICEF: Awareness programme on mine-risk prevention in Derna

The Department of Social Services and School Health, GNU Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Psychological and Educational Research Center in Derna have implemented an awareness and educational programme on protection from the remnants of war and mines, and their impact on learners, the educational process, and psychological, social, health, and educational aspects.

The Ministry stated that this programme was implemented in cooperation and partnership with UNICEF and the Libyan Mine Action Center. The programme ran for three consecutive days, with eight hours of training per day, reflecting the Department’s commitment to enhancing the skills of educational staff and reaching the largest possible number of educational supervisors, social workers, and health workers.

The Ministry indicated its intention to continue implementing these awareness programmes in the coming period, extending them to other educational districts, including Sabha, Zuwara, Zintan, and Misrata.
