UN: Escalating Fighting Displaces 200,000 People in Sudan

The United Nations has said that escalating fighting in Sudan has displaced at least 200,000 people in the Kordofan region since late last year.

The UN said on Sunday, August 23, that continued violence has worsened the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and forced more civilians to flee their homes.

The United Nations warned of further deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Sudan and stressed the need to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian assistance.

This comes as Sudan’s war, which began in 2023 between the country’s army and the Rapid Support Forces, has so far killed at least 59,000 people and displaced around 14 million others.
