Rulani Mokwena has reportedly decided to keep suspended star Ramadan Sobhi at Pyramids FC despite the player facing a doping ban.
The former Premier League winger, who has been sidelined following a suspension for doping, faces an uncertain future. Yet, Pyramids have no intention of parting ways with him, according to Sport El Watan.
Sobhi cannot be registered in the first squad list for the Egyptian Premier League season, but can be added to the squad once his suspension comes to an end.

Club Decision on Sobhi
Media personality Karim Ramzy revealed on On Sport channel that the player’s lawyer, Hani Zahran, has filed an appeal against the ruling, and if accepted, the suspension will be lifted, allowing Sobhi to return to action.
“I communicated with an official inside Pyramids, and he confirmed to me that we cannot register Ramadan Sobhi in the first squad list for the Egyptian league next season, but he can be registered at any time, should the suspension decision be cancelled,” Ramzy said.
Sobhi’s Pyramids Career
Ramzy added that the club would love to keep the former Stoke City star, who has been with the club since 2020.
“There is great confidence from Pyramids in Ramadan Sobhi, and the idea of him leaving the club is not on the table,” Ramzy concluded.

Since joining the Sky Blues from Huddersfield Town, Sobhi has made 159 appearances with 37 goals and 31 assists in all competitions.
He was part of Pyramids’ 2024/25 CAF Champions League-winning side, scoring twice and adding five assists, and made his last appearance in 2025 in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
