Rulani Continues Strong Start In Egypt

(Photo: Gallo) Rulani Mokwena’s Pyramids FC moved to the top of the Egyptian Premier League after a convincing 2-0 victory over Abou Qir Fertilizers SC.

Pyramids FC look to be firing on all cylinders under new manager Rulani Mokwena, with the South African’s side maintaining their positive start to the season.

Pyramids FC Cruise Past Abou Qir Fertilizers

Pyramids made a massive statement of intent in the Egyptian Premier League, cruising to a 2-0 victory over Abou Qir Fertilizers SC to march straight to the summit of the log.

The breakthrough came deep into first-half stoppage time when Youssef Obama latched onto a slick through ball from Karim Hafez before cracking a left-footed strike into the near corner, with Abou Qir goalkeeper Mahmoud Genesh unable to keep it out.

Pyramids picked up right where they left off after the interval.

Just three minutes into the second period, Odeh Al-Fakhouri caught the defence napping, unleashing a rocket from distance that flew past Genesh to double the lead and put the contest out of reach.

Pyramids Top the Egyptian Premier League

The maximum points send Pyramids flying to the top of the standings with six points from two games, while Abou Qir Fertilizers remain grounded on three points, sliding down to eighth place.

Tala’ea El Gaish SC in second and Al Masry SC in third are the only other two sides who have also managed to collect the maximum of six points from their opening two encounters, while Zamalek SC round out the top four with a win and a draw.

For Mokwena and his Pyramids side, their next challenge will be a clash against Al Masry SC on Monday.
