Rulani Confident Of Reaching CAFCL Final

Rulani Mokwena has expressed his desire to reach the final of the CAF Champions League with Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, as the side prepares for the first qualifying round.

Pyramids FC Face Gor Mahia in CAFCL Qualifier

The New Cairo-based outfit will go up against Gor Mahia in the first of their two-leg tie on Sunday.

While the first step for both sides would be to progress beyond the qualification stages and be among the 16 winners from the second preliminary round ties who advance to the group stage, Mokwena has already set his sights on reaching the final of the continental competition.

“We have a great team and we have proven our strength and that we are a quality team, and we are still discovering the opposing team in order to be fully prepared for the match next Sunday,” he said during his appearance on the programme Ya Masa Al Anwar, per News Room.

“We are confident and certain in our team to achieve a positive result, and we look forward to reaching the final of the African Championship, starting with the match against Gor Mahia.”

Mokwena on Egyptian Football and League Quality

On the domestic side of things, the South African tactician admitted he has been impressed by what he has seen since arriving in the country.

“At first I was aware of the Egyptian league, and I am impressed by Egyptian football. I have witnessed the greatness of Egyptian clubs and seen the growth that is taking place in the Egyptian league,” he said in the same interview, per ElBalad.

Mokwena Praises Pyramids Support Structure

The former Wydad Athletic Club boss also opened up on the level of support he has received from the club since his arrival, offering high praise.

“We have received support since our first day in Egypt, and since the first day at Pyramids, everyone has been providing all means of support and comfort to the team in order to achieve the best results.

“All the technical and administrative staff help me to grow the group and elevate the club. We have succeeded in acquiring a group of distinguished players, in addition to having a large technical and administrative staff, and I am happy to be part of this group.”
