Rulani Mokwena — as well as one of his players — have bagged awards after an explosive start to the season, with Pyramids FC yet to concede a goal in the Egyptian Premier League.

Mokwena and El Shenawy Win Monthly Awards

The Egyptian Professional Footballers Association handed the South African his manager of the month award, in his first month with the club.

This comes after his side kicked off their 2026/27 campaign in perfect fashion, winning all six of their competitive matches across the Egyptian Premier League and the CAF Champions League.

Over two legs, Mokwena’s side picked up a 7-1 aggregate victory to progress to the second qualifying round of the continental competition.

Domestically, the New Cairo-based outfit sit third in the table with a maximum 12 points from four matches, maintaining a perfect record without conceding a single league goal.

A significant part of their recent success at the back is due to shot-stopper Ahmed El Shenawy, who was awarded the goalkeeper of the month award.

“The best coach and the best goalkeeper of the month from the Egyptian Association for Professional Football Players from Mokwena and Shenawy,” the club said in a celebratory social media post.

Pyramids Reject Gulf Offers for Mahmoud Saber

According to Al-Wafd, Egyptian powerhouse Pyramids FC have put their foot down regarding the future of Mahmoud Saber, standing firm against multiple lucrative offers from the Gulf region.

The club are understood to have rejected a formal approach for the 25-year-old midfielder from an unnamed UAE club within the past few hours, while a Saudi outfit also attempted to land Saber earlier this month.

Pyramids reportedly consider the midfielder a key component of their squad as they compete across domestic and continental fronts.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian giants will be looking to maintain their momentum when they take on Eastern Enppi SC in a league encounter on Thursday.
