RB Leipzig Agree Personal Terms with Morocco’s Samir El Mourabet

Meknes – German club RB Leipzig are closing in on the summer signing of Moroccan midfielder Samir El Mourabet from Strasbourg after the player agreed to personal terms on Thursday.

According to Foot Mercato, RB Leipzig have made significant progress in recent hours by reaching a personal agreement with the player, who has accepted the Bundesliga club’s offer.

However, the deal is not yet official, as RB Leipzig still need to reach a final agreement with Strasbourg over the transfer fee.

The pursuit of the 20-year-old Moroccan aligns perfectly with Leipzig’s strategy of scouting high-potential young players, nurturing their development, and giving them a platform to excel on the European stage.

During the 2025/26 season, the defensive midfielder established himself as a core starter for Strasbourg, featuring in 48 matches across all competitions and recording two goals and two assists.

Throughout that campaign, El Mourabet racked up over 2,100 minutes across 33 Ligue 1 appearances, featuring in an additional 10 UEFA Conference League matches to cement his status as one of French football’s premier young talents.

Further talks between Leipzig and Strasbourg are expected in the coming hours, with the German side pushing to wrap up the deal while Strasbourg are expected to stand firm on their financial demands.

The same source indicates that RB Leipzig have also agreed on personal terms with Diego Moreira, who has approved the move as the German side look to replace Yan Diomandé following his transfer to Real Madrid.

Leipzig’s financial position has been greatly strengthened by Diomandé’s multi-million-euro move, leaving the Bundesliga side well-funded to meet Strasbourg’s price tag for their primary targets.
