At Pyramids FC’s official unveiling of Rulani Mokwena, club president Mamdouh Eid delivered his verdict on the South African, stating that appointing him was the correct decision.

Rulani Mokwena’s Appointment at Pyramids FC

The Cairo-based outfit confirmed the South African’s appointment last month following his departure from Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli earlier this year.

Mokwena succeeded Croatian Krunoslav Jurcic at the helm, with assistant coach Mohamed Nagy Ismail Afash previously revealing that Mokwena was chosen because of his extensive experience in the Arab and African region.

Pre-Season in Turkiye Before Official Unveiling

Despite leading the side through a pre-season camp in Turkiye, Mokwena’s official unveiling and press conference only took place on Tuesday.

Rulani Mokwena’s First Words as Pyramids Coach

Addressing the media at his introductory press conference, Mokwena expressed his pride at taking over the reins.

He said that it is an honour for him to coach a “great club with huge potential like Pyramids.” 

He added that his mission with the Cairo-based outfit is to “win all the championships with them in the new season.”

Pyramids President Mamdouh Eid’s Verdict

Eid backed the appointment as the right call for the club’s ambitions.

“The selection of Mokwena and his assistant staff was a successful and appropriate choice for Pyramids’ ambitions,” he said, per Fil Goal.

“We look forward to success with him, especially since he is a very distinguished coach who has proven himself and was an ideal choice for Pyramids to continue their winning streak.”

What’s Next for Rulani?

All eyes now shift to Mokwena’s first competitive game in charge, as Pyramids take on Ghazl El Mahalla SC on Saturday in the opening round of the league campaign.
