Pakistan seeks to strengthen economic ties with Libya

Pakistan is seeking to expand political and economic cooperation with Libya, with President Asif Ali Zardari urging the country’s newly appointed ambassador to Libya, retired Major General Mumtaz Hussain, to strengthen high-level political engagement.

Zardari also called for greater cooperation in key sectors, including defense, energy, information technology, healthcare, education, agriculture, and human resource development.

Meanwhile, Islamabad aims to boost bilateral trade, which Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Faheem Saigol said remains below its potential. He estimated that trade could exceed $1 billion annually, particularly through expanded cooperation in construction, energy, oilfield services, and IT.
