Libya Defense Ministry warns of decisive action over Al-Zawiya attacks

Libya’s Ministry of Defense has warned that it will take decisive action against those responsible for recent attacks on oil and vital facilities in Zawiya, saying its “patience is beginning to run out.”

In a statement, the ministry described the attacks as “systematic hostile acts” that threaten national security, stability and the economy, warning against attempts to drag the country into further violence and chaos.

The ministry said anyone involved in carrying out, planning, financing or facilitating the attacks would be held accountable, stressing that social or tribal protection would not shield those responsible from prosecution.

It added that repeated attacks would no longer be met with warnings alone and that it would coordinate with the relevant authorities to take “decisive and deterrent measures” against those involved.

The statement follows a series of drone attacks on oil facilities in Zawiya, including fuel tanks and other infrastructure at the city’s oil complex. The National Oil Corporation has declared a state of maximum emergency in the area.
