Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal off-road vehicle (ORV) accident that occurred early morning on Aug. 29 in Newton County.
According to information from Indiana Department of Natural Resources, at approximately 1:15 a.m., emergency personnel responded to an unnamed county road within the Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife Area after receiving a report of a serious ORV crash.
Upon arrival, responders located two individuals. The operator, Lindsay Haaland, 35, of Morocco, was found pinned beneath the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was transported to a nearby trauma center with serious injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
Assisting agencies included the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, Newton County EMS, the Morocco Volunteer Fire Department, and the Indiana State Police.
