The reform in Nigerian football demanded by President Bola Tinubu has begun in earnest with the suspension of the NFF elections and the dismissal of the various chairmen of the league bodies.

According to an official statement by the NFF, all processes initiated in preparation for the NFF elective congress scheduled for September 27 in Lafia have been suspended.

A fresh electoral process will commence following the completion of the anticipated comprehensive reform, to be undertaken in consultation with the world football governing body FIFA and CAF.

In the case where the COO are not members of staff of the NFF, the acting general secretary will deploy a new COO from the federation.

Emmanuel Ikpeme will be the NFF acting general secretary being the most senior staff member following the resignation of secretary general Mohammed Sanusi.

Ademola Olajire, until now director of media and communications, will now serve as interim deputy general secretary.
