Newcastle United have signed 18-year-old Guinea midfielder Ousmane Diabate from Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi, the Ankara club announced Friday.
“An agreement has been reached with Newcastle United, a team in the English Premier League, regarding the transfer of Ousmane Diabate, one of our first-team professional footballers,” Genclerbirligi said in a statement.
The club said Diabate would remain on loan at Genclerbirligi until the end of the season.
“We would like to thank Ousmane Diabate for his commitment and contributions while wearing our red-and-black colors, and we wish him every success in his future career,” it added.
Diabate has made three appearances for Genclerbirligi this season, providing one assist.
He joined Genclerbirligi’s under-19 side from Guinean club Academie SOAR in December 2025 before being promoted to the senior team in February 2026.
The defensive midfielder has since established himself in Genclerbirligi’s first team and made his senior international debut for Guinea.
British media reported that the deal could be worth up to £3 million ($4 million), including add-ons.
