Morocco women beat Algeria to reach African beach volleyball semi finals

Morocco’s women’s beach volleyball team has qualified for the semi-finals of the African Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Algeria 2-1 in the quarter-finals on Friday at Abu Heif Beach in Alexandria.

Algeria took the opening set 21-18, before the Moroccan pair responded emphatically, winning the second set 21-9 and then edging the decisive third set 15-13.

With the victory, the Moroccan duo secured their place at the 2027 World Championships. Morocco’s women’s team will face Egypt on Saturday in the semi-finals of the African Championship.

The tournament carries particular significance as it also serves as a qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The winners of the men’s and women’s events will earn direct qualification for the Olympics.

The African Championship features 45 teams in total, including 24 men’s teams and 21 women’s teams, representing 28 African countries.
