Rabat – Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, said the Kingdom’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup demonstrated that Morocco is fully prepared to welcome the world in 2030.
Speaking in a new episode of his online series “The Ambassador’s Office,” Amrani said the competition showcased not only Morocco’s footballing progress but also its organizational capabilities, national ambition, and growing international standing.
He noted that the Atlas Lions’ second consecutive World Cup quarter-final appearance confirmed that the team’s success is the result of a long-term strategy built on more than two decades of planning and investment.
Amrani cited the Mohammed VI Football Academy, the development of technical expertise, and continued investment in Moroccan talent at home and abroad as key drivers of that progress.
These achievements reflect the vision of King Mohammed VI, which places youth, excellence, and human development at the heart of the Kingdom’s development, he argued. The ambassador also said Morocco’s performance in the United States, Canada, and Mexico proved that its historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was not a surprise. Instead, he added, it was the natural outcome of sustained planning, discipline, and ambition.

Beyond football, he said the tournament strengthened ties between Morocco and the United States. Moroccan supporters helped introduce millions to the Kingdom’s culture, hospitality, and values while reinforcing the friendship between the two countries, he noted.
The ambassador concluded by paying tribute to Moroccan supporters who traveled from the kingdom and across North America, as well as members of the Moroccan diaspora, saying they represented Morocco with dignity, passion, and respect.
