The story

From football’s biggest stages to a deeply personal milestone, Masandawana and Zimbabwe Warriors left-back Divine Lunga has added another memorable chapter to his life after tying the knot on Sunday, 20 September.

The 31-year-old appeared to celebrate a traditional wedding ceremony with his partner, Noxolo, who offered fans a glimpse into their special day on social media.

Noxolo shared a heartwarming video of herself and her husband dressed in traditional attire, with the newlyweds welcomed into the yard by an enthusiastic gathering of family and friends singing in celebration. The occasion brought another layer of joy to what was already a memorable week for Lunga.

Just a day earlier, the defender was part of the Sundowns squad that lifted the FIFA Intercontinental Cup after defeating Al-Ahli Saudi, featuring among the substitutes as the Brazilians celebrated another piece of international silverware.

Lunga’s wedding day therefore provided the perfect personal finale to a special few days, as he officially began married life with Noxolo, the mother of his son.

On the football front, Lunga has made one appearance for Sundowns so far this season as he continues to compete for minutes in an experienced squad.

Since joining the Brazilians from Golden Arrows in 2021, however, the Zimbabwean has built an impressive trophy cabinet. He has won four league titles with the club and was also part of the Sundowns squad that secured their second CAF Champions League crown in May.
