Libya prepares for pilot TIMSS assessments in basic education schools
The Libyan National Committee for Education, Culture and Science discussed a roadmap for a pilot project to administer TIMSS assessments to a sample of basic education schools, as part of preparations for Libya to enter international education quality rankings.
During a meeting held to follow up on the project, the committee reviewed implementation mechanisms aimed at identifying educational gaps and improving curricula ahead of Libya’s full participation in the international assessments, according to a statement posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
The committee said the project is part of efforts to enhance the quality of education and support data- and evidence-based decision-making, with the goal of improving the education system and raising student performance in line with international standards.
