Worldwide Caution: The Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau traveled to Trinidad and Tobago August 9-10, 2026.  Deputy Secretary Landau met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to further strengthen the bilateral relationship, including to discuss shared energy and security priorities and advance economic cooperation.

Deputy Secretary of Landau also officially cut the ribbon to re-open the Ibis Steel Company of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd. at Point Lisas Industrial Estate, Couva, visited the Shell Invaders Steel Orchestra, and the Exchange Sewala.

Deputy Secretary Landau’s visit underscores the United States’ commitment to strengthening partnerships across our hemisphere and advancing shared priorities, including regional security, energy resilience, and economic prosperity.
