Libya Industry Ministry Explores Cooperation with KPMG

The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mohamed Abdelgader, met yesterday, at the Ministry ‘s Tripoli headquarters, with the Director of KPMG’s Tunisia office and several of the company’s experts and consultants to discuss avenues of cooperation and leveraging international expertise to develop the industry and mining sectors.

The meeting was attended by several officials from the Ministry’s affiliated agencies, institutions, centres, and companies.

Representatives of the company presented their expertise in developing strategies and policies, conducting feasibility studies and investment planning, institutional development and governance, digital transformation, and performance improvement.

The meeting addressed priority areas of cooperation in the industry and mining sectors, including:

·       Developing industrial strategies

·       Preparing an investment map and identifying promising opportunities

·       Localizing industries and maximizing local added value

·       Developing industrial zones

·       Improving the efficiency of institutions and factories

·       Conducting economic and investment studies on mineral resources and raw materials

·       Identifying investment opportunities

·       Developing value chains

·       Developing industries based on local raw materials.

The minister emphasized the importance of leveraging international expertise in knowledge transfer and national capacity building and transforming studies and plans into implementable programmes and projects. This, he noted, would contribute to enhancing the efficiency of both sectors, stimulating investment, and boosting the competitiveness of national products.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and information exchange, explore priority areas of cooperation, and develop a technical framework for the next phase, in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.
