Koffee releases Summer Fruit ahead of sophomore album

Koffee is excited about her new single Summer Fruit.

Leading up to the release of her sophomore album in November, reggae artiste Koffee will be releasing a new single each month.

On Monday, she teased her new single Summer Fruit, with a pop-up performance at Eits Café in Newcastle, St Andrew, before an audience comprising fans, friends, family, and selected media representatives.

DJs Gabby and Reiizzr kept guests entertained with body-rocking music, while Eits Café served up scrumptious dishes.

“The idea behind the pop-up is really just human connection,” Koffee told the Jamaica Observer. “I feel we’re in the trenches of social media and everybody’s been attached to their phones, and I just wanted to do some in-person pop-ups to bring back that sense of community.”

Summer Fruit was produced by London-based music and production duo FaNaTiX, who are known for their work with the likes of Sean Paul, Stylo G, Popcaan, Cham, among others.

The song was officially released on August 4.

Last month, Koffee teamed up with fellow Billboard-charting artiste Skillibeng for the collaboration Rapid Fyah, a song which has racked up close to a million views on YouTube.

She explained how the collaboration with Skillibeng came about.

“It happened naturally, it was a pretty natural collaboration. Skilli and I have been in the same circles. I did my part of the song and sent it to him, and he did his part in quick succession and sent it back,” said Koffee.

Pressed for details about the forthcoming album, the follow-up to her 2022 album Gifted, which landed at #2 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart, Koffee said: “It has bare vibes and lots of collaborations. I will be announcing the title and the features real soon. So stay tuned, because I will be dropping a single each month until we get to the album.”

Koffee emerged on the scene in a major way in 2019 when her song Toast raced up multiple Billboard charts. Her debut EP Rapture for Columbia Records UK topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for three weeks and won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, the first for a female reggae artiste.

Koffee has to date earned three silver-certified singles in the United Kingdom, Repeat with J Hus, Rapture, and W with Gunna. Toast has been certified platinum.

Commenting on her absence from the local music scene, Koffee, who has been performing on multiple stages internationally, shared: “I was really able to spend the time and hone my craft a little bit more and just tap into my creativity, and I’m really grateful for that experience. The project will be the result of that.”

Koffee recently performed at Summerjam in Germany.

Wedding host and media personality Ryan Dixon is in the mix.

DJ Gabby takes a break from keeping the vibes flowing.

Media practitioner and Miss Universe Jamaica 2026 finalist Kwela Cole enjoys the on-theme fruit display.
