Police search for person they say broke into Jamaica Plain apartment, tried to pull blanket off sleeping victim

Boston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person they say broke into an apartment in Jamaica Plain Wednesday morning.

Just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 5, officers were called to a home on Heath Street in Jamaica Plain for a report of a breaking and entering that was still in progress, the department said in an alert.

Officers spoke to the alleged victim, who said a person had climbed through his bedroom window while he was sleeping, the department said. The person tried to pull off the victim’s blanket, then fled through the same window, he told police.

The suspect is described as Black, in his late teens or early 20s, with a slim build and short hair, police said.

Police shared images of the person believed to be involved in the break-in showing him wearing a white t shirt and black and white cap.
