Boston police seek suspect in Jamaica Plain break-ins

BOSTON —

Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a series of break-ins in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

The first alleged break-in occurred on Tuesday around 6:50 a.m. in the area of 182 Heath Street.

According to Boston police, a male victim reported a suspect had climbed through his bedroom window while he was sleeping and tried pulling the covers off of him.

The suspect, described as a Black man in his late teens or early 20s with a slim build and short hair, fled out of the victim’s bedroom window.

Investigators determined a similar incident happened next door at 180 Heath Street on Aug. 2.

According to police, a female victim said a suspect broke into her apartment around 3:50 a.m. while she was sleeping.

The suspect allegedly shone a flashlight into the victim’s bedroom before placing her pet inside and closing the door.

The victim told police she then saw the suspect standing inside her bathroom before he fled out the fire escape.

According to investigators, the suspect stole the victim’s laptop, Kindle and purse.

The suspect was also described as a Black man in his 20s wearing a dark-colored shirt and dark-colored jeans.
