Jaishankar holds ‘productive conversation’ with Liberian FM Nyanti, congratulates her on opening of new embassy in India

Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti visited India on Thursday for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

Nyanti held bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi, during which the two sides reviewed the entire range of India-Liberia relations.

The discussions covered cooperation in several key areas, including technology, agriculture, healthcare, mining, energy, trade and investment, education, capacity building and people-to-people exchanges.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, Jaishankar said he had a “productive conversation” with Nyanti on safety and security of commercial shipping, mining, health, agriculture, water and training.

“Delighted to meet Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti of Liberia. Congratulated her on the inauguration of new Embassy of Liberia in New Delhi today. Had productive conversation on safety and security of commercial shipping, mining, health, agriculture, water and training. Our meeting also focused on much-needed UNSC reforms. Confident that our South – South cooperation will continue to strengthen,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.

Jaishankar also congratulated Nyanti on the inauguration and opening of the Liberian Embassy in New Delhi on Thursday.

The two ministers discussed ways to deepen cooperation at multilateral forums to promote peace and development and strengthen the voice of the Global South.

Their talks also focused on the need for reformed multilateralism, including reforms to the United Nations Security Council. Both sides stressed the importance of greater cooperation among countries of the Global South.
