Humanitarian Aid, Emergency Programming & DRR: September 2026 Funding Opportunities (15 new opportunities)

Fifteen opportunities on the Humanitarian page this cycle, thirteen closing before the end of September. Four are for Sudan; Somalia, Mali, DR Congo, the Central African Republic, Ukraine, Peru, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Iraq take one each.

This is a registration test before it is a funding page. Almost every call assumes you are already a registered partner on the UN Partner Portal, already present in the named provinces, and already through a safeguarding self-assessment. UNHCR Peru wants current SUNARP, SUNAT and APCI registrations and at least three years in country. WFP’s DR Congo call takes national and international NGOs, community-based organizations, university institutions and members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, all registered. The Dominican Republic call is limited to organizations duly registered with Dominican national authorities. If you are not on the portal, the work this month is getting on it, not writing a proposal.

Four of the fifteen are for Sudan, and three of those four are UNHCR building out one state. Comprehensive protection, reception, assistance and orientation services starting in North Kordofan and expected to scale. Inclusive WASH for refugee-hosting camps and camp-like settings in North Kordofan. Shelter and non-food item assistance in North Kordofan. UNICEF’s fourth Sudan call is different in shape, a national pool of qualified child protection organizations across nine states for 2026 to 2028. Disability Inclusion Assessment, World Food Programme (WFP). *New!* *Closing soon!*

The World Food Programme is seeking an independent entity to conduct a field-level disability inclusion assessment across its supported project locations in Iraq. WFP wants to understand, from the perspective of persons with disabilities and their caregivers, where its assistance, sites, communication channels, and feedback mechanisms remain hard to reach. The agency is commissioning evidence that will feed into its Iraq disability inclusion capacity action plan, treating lived experience as the input its internal self-assessment cannot supply. By favoring research institutions, organizations of persons with disabilities, and specialized civil society groups over its existing monitoring providers, WFP signals that trusted community access and disability expertise weigh more than incumbency. The strongest fits are organizations that pair qualitative research rigor with accessible, safeguarding-conscious engagement and established relationships in Iraqi communities.

• Geographies: Iraq, in the Middle East, covering selected WFP project locations across eight governorates: Al Anbar, Babil, Salah ad Din, Ninawa, the Kurdistan Region, Dhi Qar, Al Basrah, and Al Muthanna.

• Who can apply: Independent entities with demonstrated expertise in disability inclusion and community-based research, with preferred profiles including a research institution, an Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD), or a specialized civil society or non-governmental organization holding the technical and operational capacity to conduct accessible, trusted engagement with persons with disabilities, caregivers, and communities across the selected WFP project locations in Iraq.

• Funding amount: Indicative budget of 26,000,000 in an unlabelled currency, most likely Iraqi dinar, which converts to approximately US$19,800; the USD figure is approximate and this record carries medium extraction confidence, so applicants should verify the currency against the Field Level Agreement budget template attached to the call.

Selection of Implementing Partners for the 2027 to 2029 Multi-Year Strategy, UNHCR Peru, Lot 1: Access to Territory and Documentation (Selección de socios implementadores para periodo Estrategia Multianual 2027-2029 ACNUR Perú, Lote 1), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). *New!* *Closing soon!*

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is seeking implementing partners in Peru to deliver the first lot of its 2027 to 2029 country strategy, centered on access to territory and documentation for forcibly displaced people. Most are Venezuelans living in Peruvian cities without the papers that determine access to work, services, and protection. UNHCR wants partners who can guide people through asylum and documentation processes, respond to gender-based violence and child protection risks, keep displaced children enrolled in school, and open routes toward local integration or dignified return. The scoring weights sector expertise and years of on-the-ground refugee work far above cost, signaling that the agency is prioritizing established, trusted operators over lower bids. The strongest fits are locally registered organizations with deep protection experience across the named departments.

• Geographies: Peru, in South America, with implementation across seven departments: Lima, Madre de Dios, Tumbes, Arequipa, Tacna, Puno, and Ica.

• Who can apply: Organizations able to act as UNHCR implementing partners in Peru, holding current Peruvian registrations with SUNARP, SUNAT and APCI, with at least three years of expertise in the proposed result area and presence in the required localities, at least three years working with refugee and host communities in Peru, and a minimum of two years of inter-institutional coordination experience; applicants must maintain a PSEA and safeguarding policy and code of conduct and have completed the UN Partner Portal self-assessment.

Emergency Preparedness and Response Programme in Western and Central Regions of Ukraine, UNICEF. *New!* *Closing soon!*

UNICEF is opening a call for expression of interest to select an implementing partner for emergency preparedness and response across nine western and three central oblasts of Ukraine, where a fifth year of war has left millions of children and families displaced, cut off from heat and water, and exposed to repeated strikes. UNICEF is using this partnership to keep prepositioned supplies moving, register affected families for cash assistance, run case management, and reach frontline hromadas fast once needs surface. It wants a partner that already holds ground in these regions, weighting local presence and sector expertise far above general management. The strongest fits are Ukrainian civil society organizations with proven field reach, protection and WASH delivery experience, and the capacity to operate safely near the front line.

• Geographies: Ukraine, in Eastern Europe, across twelve western and central oblasts: Lviv, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Kyiv, Rivne, Zakarpattia, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi.

• Who can apply: Civil society organizations seeking to serve as a UNICEF implementing partner for emergency response and protection in Ukraine; the call does not publish a formal eligibility list, but its scoring weights local experience and presence and sector expertise most heavily, signaling a preference for organizations with established field operations in the target oblasts and demonstrated emergency-response delivery, with experience working with the UN also scored, and all applications submitted through the UN Partner Portal.
