Dominican Republic : 3,685 Haitians Deported to Haiti

The Dominican Republic deported 3,685 Haitians in an irregular migration situation to Haiti over three days, from September 4th to 6, 2026, via the border crossings of Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní, and Pedernales. Simultaneously, 4,055 other Haitians in an irregular migration situation were apprehended during operations conducted in Pedernales, Dajabón, Santo Domingo, and Elías Piña, with the participation of several Dominican security agencies.

Kidnapping Foiled

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Haitian National Police (PNH) thwarted an attempted kidnapping of Robert Deeb early in the morning on Magua Street, Delmas 31. The heavily armed kidnappers were traveling in a gray-blue Isuzu armored vehicle, license plate BB-58744. During their escape, the criminals exchanged numerous shots with law enforcement. Several kidnappers were fatally wounded. The police also seized the vehicle.

New Coordinator of the PNH Electoral Unit

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, Inspector General Joachim Prophète was installed as the new Coordinator of the PNH Electoral Unit. He replaces Inspector General Joseph Plonquet, the current Chief of Staff to the Acting Director General of the PNH.

President Nicușor Dan has appointed Theodora-Magdalena Mircea as Romania’s Ambassador to Haiti, according to a statement from the Presidential Administration. Mircea already serves as Romania’s Ambassador to Cuba and will now also represent Bucharest in Haiti.

Bringing History Back to Life

Nicole Willson and Rebecca Morrison visited the Haitian Embassy in the United Kingdom to prepare the recreation of dresses made for Queen Marie-Louise, wife of King Henri Christophe, and her two daughters. These dresses will accompany traveling exhibitions before taking their permanent home at the Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH) in Haiti.
