DIPLOMATIC WATCH: Africa’s counter-terrorism strategy under review – NTV Uganda

Twenty-five years ago, the September 11 attacks transformed the global fight against terrorism. For Africa, they also accelerated a continental rethink of how to confront a threat that was already crossing borders. In 2002, the African Union adopted a Plan of Action on the Prevention and Combating of Terrorism. More than two decades later, terrorist groups remain active across the continent. In today’s Diplomatic Watch, we ask: what difference did that plan actually make? And has Africa’s counter-terrorism strategy kept pace with the threat? Daniel Kibet reports.
