Haiti – Insecurity : Young female police officer killed in the line of duty

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, while performing her duties, Officer Saint Jour Queturah (Officer 1st Class, 34th Class, January 2025) of the Haitian National Police (PNH)—assigned to the Departmental Order and Intervention Brigade (BOID)—was fatally wounded during an ambush in the locality of Bercy, situated between Cabaret and Arcahaie. This area is a high-tension zone due to repeated incursions by terrorists from the Canaan criminal gang coalition, who are attempting to expand their territorial control. The ambush occurred while the BOID unit was patrolling or traversing this strategic stretch of road. Heavily armed individuals opened targeted fire, fatally striking Officer Saint-Jour in the head.

Despite being rushed to the Saintard Reformed Hospital, she tragically succumbed to her wound.

“Her death is a profound loss for her family, loved ones, fellow officers, the BOID, the 34th Class, and the entire PNH family. Losing one of their own after just over a year and a half of service is a devastating blow to her classmates.

The PNH pays its deepest respects to the memory of Officer 1st Class Saint Jour Queturah. The National Police honors the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of this BOID officer.

In this time of grief, the PNH extends its condolences to her family, loved ones, and fellow officers, and pledges to stand by the officer’s family and relatives to support them through this difficult time.

The PNH will not forget your sacrifice.

Rest in Peace, Officer 1st Class Saint Jour Queturah.”
