Google Offers Moroccan Students a Free Year of Gemini: How to Claim and Use It

Marrakech – Google is giving Moroccan university students 12 months of free access to Google AI Plus for the second year running. Students must verify their eligibility and activate the offer by December 31.

The program is part of a wider rollout across 27 countries in Africa. Eligible college and university students can claim one year of Google AI Plus at no cost, along with a set of new and enhanced study tools built into the Gemini app.

The plan gives students access to Gemini Omni and 2x higher usage limits in Gemini. It also includes 400 GB of cloud storage shared across Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail. The tools cover research, writing, and document analysis.

The offer varies by region. In the United States, eligible students receive one year of Google AI Pro for free, a plan valued at $19.99 a month. That tier unlocks 4x higher usage limits in Gemini, access to Gemini Spark, and Gemini in Google apps such as Gmail and Google Docs. It also comes with 5 TB of storage and Google Health Premium.

Students outside the United States, including those in Morocco, receive Google AI Plus instead. That plan carries the lower storage allowance and the 2x usage limit rather than the 4x tier offered to US students.

Students who want ad-free music and video streaming can add a separate bundle. Google is offering Google AI Pro paired with a YouTube Premium subscription for up to 70% off.

Beyond the subscription, Google has introduced a dedicated student hub inside the Gemini app. The hub brings the study tools into one workspace. From there, students can start a study notebook, create flashcards, and take a practice quiz. New learning tools will appear in the hub as Google builds them.

The study notebooks, first launched in June, guide students step by step through their material. Once a student uploads class materials such as lecture notes, Gemini sets up a notebook with a plan to break down the topics. It can run a diagnostic quiz to find knowledge gaps, then build custom lessons and quizzes with a real-time progress dashboard.

According to Google, the notebooks will soon add graphs and images to lessons. With the student’s permission, Gemini can also read key dates from a syllabus and schedule exams and assignment deadlines in Google Calendar.

Another tool, interactive visualizations, lets Gemini generate 3D simulations to explain a topic. Responses can include tables, grids, and simulations tailored to a question. A student can ask to see how DNA works in 3D, then rotate and zoom into the structure.

Gemini Live adds a conversational way to study. Students can talk through a problem set or work with materials from Drive. Google is now bringing Deep Research into Gemini Live, so students can launch multi-step research reports and discuss them by voice. The reports run in the background, and Gemini sends a notification when they are ready.

To claim the offer, students go to one.google.com/ai-student and select a student plan. They then verify their student status through SheerID using a valid school email address. The final step is completing the subscription flow and adding a form of payment if one is not already on file.

Eligibility carries conditions. A student must attend a higher education institution in a supported country and must hold a personal Google Account. New and existing Google One members qualify, though family group members must first leave a shared plan. Users with subscriptions through third-party partners, Pixel Pass, or Google Fi are not eligible.

When the offer ends, the account converts to a regular paid Google AI Plus plan. Google will notify students before the change takes effect.
