Fouzi Lekjaa takes charge of 210 billion dirham development fund in Morocco

Fouzi Lekjaa’s remit within the Moroccan government continues to expand. The minister delegate responsible for the Budget has now been placed in charge of the Integrated Territorial Development Fund, established in 2026 with an allocation of 210 billion dirhams over eight years.

The decision, signed by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch «on a transitional basis», was published in the August 6 edition of the Official Gazette.

Under Article 2 of the decree, Lekjaa «may appoint governors, prefects and heads of central and decentralized public-sector departments as deputy authorizing officers and their substitutes for transactions recorded under the account, in accordance with the regulations governing public accounting».

Last April, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit presented King Mohammed VI with the broad outlines of the programs to be financed through the Integrated Territorial Development Fund. As part of preparations for the wide-ranging initiative, Laftit held several meetings with government members, including Lekjaa, to coordinate the implementation of the Fund’s various programs.

Lekjaa has also been a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) since July 25.
