Eid Al Mawlid to Fall on August 25 in Morocco

Morocco will celebrate Eid Al Mawlid, marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, on Tuesday, August 25, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced Thursday following the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon marking the start of Rabi’ Al Awwal.

The ministry confirmed tomorrow is the first day of Rabi’ Al Awwal.

The ministry concluded its statement by extending its best wishes for happiness and prosperity to the Royal Family, the Moroccan people, and the wider Muslim Ummah.

Eid Al Mawlid marks a two-day public holiday in Morocco, meaning Moroccans will enjoy two days off on August 25 and 26.

During the night of the feast, King Mohammed VI traditionally presides over official religious commemorative ceremonies, accompanied by Quranic recitations and religious sessions.

While many Moroccans observe Eid Al Mawlid as a religious occasion dedicated to remembrance and Quranic recitation, others also mark the feast by exchanging visits and sharing meals with family and friends.
