Former Banker Daniel Vorcaro Asked Justice Moraes Whether He Should Leave The Country Two Days before His Arrest – 01/09/2026 – Brazil

Former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, asked Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes whether he should leave the country two days before he was arrested by the Federal Police on November 17, 2025. He also requested meetings with the justice to discuss the business dealings that led to the investigation against him. The information comes from messages first revealed by O Estado de S. Paulo and also obtained by Folha.

Vorcaro was arrested as he was preparing to board a private jet bound for Malta. Documents show that on November 14 he asked the justice whether they were still “scheduled for tomorrow at my house” or whether he would “rather leave it until next week,” before confirming minutes later: “I’ll arrive at 2:30 p.m., OK? Meeting at my house.” On the evening of November 15, two days before his arrest, he requested another meeting that “can be very quick”: “So 2 p.m. then. Should I come to your house or mine?” On the same day, he asked: “Do you think I should already be out of the country by Monday?” The following day he wrote: “I’m already on the plane, I’ll land at 2:20 p.m. and head straight there, all good?”

The exchanges about those meetings took place at the same time as messages in which Vorcaro questioned Moraes about the progress of the case against him and Banco Master, expressed outrage, and said he was trying to resolve outstanding issues to avoid problems. The revelation expands the body of conversations between Vorcaro and an interlocutor whom the Federal Police suspect was Moraes. Some of those exchanges are included in a document submitted to the STF, on which Justice André Mendonça requested a statement from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to Mendonça, the conversations show that Vorcaro learned, “well in advance,” of the decision that would order his arrest, reinforcing the hypothesis that he “sought intervention from public officials involved in the respective decision-making processes.” The justice also says identifying the interlocutor is essential to mapping the members of the alleged influence and monitoring network run by the businessman, which could include individuals entitled to special jurisdiction before the STF.

The messages extracted from Vorcaro’s cellphone do not reveal the content of Moraes’ replies because the two allegedly used view-once images containing screenshots of text from the Notes app. In other exchanges, Vorcaro asked an interlocutor to enlist the help of “Andrei and Paulo”—a reference to Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues and Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet—to try to postpone an operation: “If Andrei can delay it until the following week, because of the holiday, the bank won’t collapse.”

Mendonça gave the Prosecutor General’s Office five days to respond. Folha contacted Rodrigues, Gonet and Moraes, who declined to comment. In a statement, the law firm run by the justice’s wife said its compliance department had consulted Moraes about any legal impediments to being hired by Banco Master and concluded there were none, since the work was not expected to involve proceedings before the STF.
