Flávio Bolsonaro statistically ties Lula in Brazil poll
In Brazil, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has practically tied with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in a simulation of the second round of the presidential election. According to an AtlasIntel/Bloomberg poll released on Thursday, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro has 46.4% support, compared with Lula’s 46.2%. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
At the end of August, Lula was leading Bolsonaro by 47.1% to 42.6%. The new figures showed a statistical tie between the candidates ahead of the presidential election in October.
Conflict in the Supreme Federal Court
The shift in campaign dynamics comes amid a public conflict in Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court. Justice André Mendonça, who was appointed by Jair Bolsonaro, lifted judicial secrecy over Federal Police reports concerning private correspondence between Justice Alexandre de Moraes and Daniel Vorcaro, the former owner of Banco Master SA.

The bank’s collapse is at the center of a major investigation into alleged fraud. According to the report, the disclosed messages may indicate close ties and undisclosed contacts between Moraes and Vorcaro, intensifying criticism of possible improper links between members of the judiciary and financial interests.
Lula’s response and risks for Bolsonaro
Lula called for full transparency in the Banco Master investigation, which is being led by Mendonça, and stated that everyone involved in wrongdoing must be held accountable regardless of their status or possible consequences for others. The president’s approval rating fell to 44%, the lowest AtlasIntel figure since it began tracking this indicator in early 2024.
At the same time, Flávio Bolsonaro may also face political consequences from this financial scandal. In May, his support fell by nearly seven percentage points after reports that, before Vorcaro’s arrest, the senator had asked him for funds for a biographical documentary about his father.
