First unit at Sirte’s Gulf Power Plant reconnected to grid
The first unit at the Gulf Steam Power Plant in Sirte has been reconnected to the national grid after going offline early Monday, the plant’s General Manager, Al-Hamali Abu Dabus, announced.
Abu Dabus told the Libyan News Agency that technical preparations are underway to bring the second unit back online soon.
Electricity has gradually been restored to several areas and neighborhoods in Sirte, including Al-Jazeera district and the line serving Ibn Sina Hospital.
Sirte and Harawa experienced a complete power outage after midnight, marking the third blackout in the two areas within one week.
